DESCRIPTION:
One of America's most respected typographers presents a study of the Roman alphabet. Derived from a popular series in U&lc, the book traces the evolution of each letter, from early hieroglyphics to the shapes we are familiar with today.
J Bay said Blindsided. I really was taken by the title of this book. The History, Evolution, and Design of the Letters We Use Today. It should be called "The Design of Letters with footnotes to where the came from"I was looking for more depth. I know this book was short but I wasn't expecting the design of the letters to take up half the space on almost every page of the book. This book will be great for kids to get a snipet (sp?) of the alphabet. Not for adults who want to learn where these letters came from, the History and Evolution fall short.Sorry Mr. Haley, This book is a primer for people. And not a great primer. Please, come with something more in. Robin Dewitt said Wonderful book, meet my expectations and much more.. It was a good base for my layout class to understand the history of letters. Very informative and well done.
