Amazon Customer said A must read. Once you get past the Scottish-izms and focus on the story itself I would put this in the top 5 I have read. A truly amazing story of character and the beauty found in a boy from simple beginnings.. Eileen said I love George MacDonald's writings and love that his books are. I love George MacDonald's writings and love that his books are all available for free on the Kindle. His characters teach me how to be a better person.. Kid's version of a classic Les Thanp Erfect Relates the tale of Sir Gibbie greatly abridged. Though not nearly as good as the original (but you have to have an ear for heavy Scots dialect to wade through the original - yet it's worth it) still a good tale. This may be my favorite MacDonald Book (in the original) which simplified for young people is worth 4 stars.
