Fans of historical fiction should definitely read. I can honestly say I enjoyed this book. I am relatively new to historical fiction and this novel definitely held my interest. The concept of Lincoln surviving the assassination attempt and how that may have affected history was thought provoking. I would have liked a little more history between the main character and his mom, as there were times I felt a few pages of flashback would have served both the story and character development but maybe that is being saved for another n. antyem said Nice book for. Quite the look at post Civil War America. Pinkerton's still has his hands in things and sends Lincoln's former body guard on an interesting wild goose chase. They revisit the Underground Railroad by following the Drinking Gourd and seeing signs safety, only to be nearly captured. Nice book for. "Fascinating Read" according to Don Paske. A fascinating read of what might have been. The main character is quite the fellow. Sometimes plausible, other times not so much, but an entertaining read, nonetheless.
