I love the movie GoldenEye, so I really looked forward to reading this novelization. It was pretty good, but I imagine it must have been written from a very early draft of the screenlay, as some of the best lines of dialogue weren't there, and Gardner glosses over parts of the film in a few paragraphs where the movie actually fleshes the parts out. Other parts he makes longer which would've been better had he left them alone and either cut them or, in some caes, left them the same as the movie.
