And some of them are reproduced in light gray when their palettes could easily have been forced to black and white for readability. At l. Excellent short introduction Dana P. Loomis This little book is just what the title promises: a very short introduction. It lays out the essentials of epidemiology in a few brief, readable chapters. But unlike many books that try to present complex, academic ideas to a general readership, it is never sloppy or misleading. Although it doesn't treat any topic in depth or cover every aspect of the field, the great virtue of this book is that nothing it does cover needs to be corrected or explained . "An excellent cursory view of what epidemiology is, what it aims to do, and how it achieves those aims." according to A student of History. This VSI book describes epidemiology, its type of methods, its potential, and some of its limitations. Examples from real studies are used to demonstrate various aspects of epidemiology. Some of these examples include: smoking data and life expectancy, body indices, differences in life expectancy between sexes, and more. As a source of clarification regarding epidemiology it serves well, and as a source of entertainment it's not too shabby either.
