"Solid historical fiction with romance thrown in for good measure." according to D. Ekstrand. I read this book while in Montbrans les Bains in the Vaucluse, France. I believe the writer lives around there and even though it was set In the middle ages, I still felt the nearness of the locations described in the book. Jean Gill's knowledge off history, both social and political for this period is woven seamlessly into a riveting story which is very real in life terms, being both very shocking and unsettling as well as romantic.I recommend this trilogy, and this book, to anyone who enjoys this type of reading. I will be giving the set to my aunt whom enjoys historical fiction, we trade books all the time, but these are for her collection.. "Good read!" according to Zipporah. For what it is, a historical novel, it is very well written and researched. I am reading more books by this author. Very authentic and good plot.

That is what it was like to read this fine novel. All at once, I am surrounded by knights, crusades, and Templar politics… Her writing is as lyrical as the songs her characters sing.’ B.J.
