"Its worth the trip" according to Lionel D. Youst. Every one has read anthologized parts of Roughing it, but few have read the entire book. It is not a novel. It is a novelistic memoir, part fiction, part factual record with many tall tales and a pretty good joke thrown in from time to time. In places it provides a good supplement to the history books.
